Meet harper

Hi, I am Harper Claire Johnston. I am currently a senior at James Madison University majoring in Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Creative Advertising and a minor in Political Science. I was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas, and was ready for a change of scenery after graduating high school. Luckily, I found my fit at JMU.

When I am not coming up with fun campaigns you can find me beating (hopefully) my little brother in Mario Kart or trying to cook a steak like my Dad. I have a plethora of hobbies ranging from watercolor to reading, which I like to think my creativity and bring personality to my projects.

What am i up to now?

For the past 6 semesters, I have been a part of JMU SafeRides, a student-led organization providing free and confidential rides to JMU students on Friday and Saturday nights between 10 pm and 3 am.

Luckily, during the 2025-2026 school year, I have been selected to serve as the Public Relations Director for the organization. This includes running social medias, contacting other organizations and businesses, collaborating with UniversityTees to design merch, and more.

I am absolutely loving it. I enjoy being able to mix my love of volunteering work with my creative side!
